Alejandro in Baltimore

Alejandro Alonso

My son Ale is one of the most sought-after chefs in hibachi cuisine. He has worked in numerous restaurants throughout the United States for more than a decade.

His base is The Red Door - Asian Bistro & Hibachi - located at 625 E Las Olas Blvd in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. However, during the seasons he is often hired by excellent restaurants in the industry. In the 2024 season he worked at the Bamboo Southampton, in The Hampton, Long Island.

In October 2024 he moved temporarily to the beautiful historic city of Baltimore, the most populous city in the U.S. state of Maryland. With a population of over 500,000 people.

Ale was hired by the prestigious Azumi Restaurant, located at 725 Aliceanna St. in Baltimore, facing the Patapsco River, the best hibachi restaurant in the Baltimore Historic District.

The Historic District has numerous attractions, impressive buildings, monuments and sites of great interest such as the National Katyn Memorialwhich memorializes the victims of the 1940 Katyn massacre of Polish nationals carried out by Soviet forces.  The monument was unveiled in 2000 and is the tallest statue in Baltimore.

About ten blocks to the east is the Broadway Market (1640 Aliceanna St) established in 1786 and was most recently renovated in 2019 after being shuttered for nearly a decade. The market currently consists of two separate shed buildings featuring various food retail options within.

The Historic District is full of life. There are many street activities taking place there, and at its heart is Azumi Restaurant.
